Why I joined the 2004 Asian Hospital Management Awards?

To achieve mission of OMMC Surgery to become a model department of surgery in the Philippines.

Parameters for a model department:

Being emulated by other departments of surgery in the Philippines (uncontrollable, difficult to achieve because of envy and crab mentality)

Being given recognition / awards of excellence (easier)

I decided to go for the second parameter.

Backgrounder to joining the AHMA:

I initially took a crack at the 2004 Asian Corporate Social Responsibility Awards in August.  I submitted 3 entries.  No entries won.  However, one entry was short-listed.
