MDH – Started convincing and pushing MDH Administration to join AHMA and ACSR in 2004

MDH – Starting 2004, inclusion of submission of entries to external awards as a key result area or performance indicator in the balanced scorecard (BSC)

MDH – 2008, Linen and Housekeeping Service won an AHMA in the Category of Internal Customer Service: Housekeeping Staff: Di Lang sa Paglilinis, Pang Disaster Preparedness Pa (Housekeeping Staff: Not Only for Cleaning, For Disaster Preparedness Too).

MDH – 2009 – Department of Otorhinolaryngology won AHMA in the Category of Community Service with the project Bridging the Gap: Working towards a comprehensive cleft lip and palate programme for patients with cleft and palate deformities and their families.

MDH – 2010   Admitting Service won AHMA in the Category of Customer Service with the project Admitting Service C to C (Complaints to Compliments).

MDH – Established the MDH Awards for Excellence in 2007 which somehow had effects on MDH getting external awards and promoting a culture of excellence.

MDH – Re-established the MDH Outstanding Continual Improvement Projects Awards in 2009 (with a similar project instituted in 1999 and 2000 when ROJoson was Chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee).  Winning entries are submitted for external awards. External awards include AHMA, ACSR, Philippine Anvil, Philippine Quill and others.

Resolution 1: To continue to use (but with refinements) the external award for excellence project as one of the strategies in promoting excellence in hospitals that I will be coaching and mentoring in their journey towards performance excellence.

Resolution 2: To make the External Award for Excellence Project a management system so that it will be more effective, sustainable and eventually become one of the best practices of hospital.
