Terminal Learning Objectives: 

For Hospital Director

At the end of the experiential learning sessions on Continual Improvement Program, the hospital director must be able to:

  1. Explain why the hospital and all its services / units should conduct a continual improvement program / project at planned interval.
  2. Lead all heads of services / units to conduct productive continual improvement program / project in their respective services / units.
  3. Lead all heads of services / units to coordinate and collaborate with each other   in conducting productive continual improvement program / project both in their respective services / units and hospital-wide.

For Directorates / Division Heads

At the end of the experiential learning sessions on Continual Improvement Program, the directorates and division heads must be able to:

  1. Explain why the hospital and all its services / units should conduct a continual improvement program / project at planned interval.
  2. Lead all heads of services / units under their directorates / divisions to conduct productive continual improvement program / project in their respective services / units.
  3. Lead all heads of services / units under their directorates / divisions to coordinate and collaborate with each other and with those of other directorates / divisions to coordinate and collaborate with each other in conducting productive continual improvement program / project both in their respective services / units and hospital-wide.

For Heads of Services / Units (including other line manager-leaders)

At the end of the experiential learning sessions on Continual Improvement Program, the participants must be able to:

  1. Explain why the hospital and all its services / units should conduct a continual improvement program / project at planned interval.
  2. Lead all personnel of service / unit to conduct productive continual improvement program / project in their respective services / units.
  3. Lead all personnel of service / unit to coordinate and collaborate with personnel of other services / units in conducting productive continual improvement program / project both in their respective services / units and hospital-wide.

For Personnel (Non-line-manager-leader) of Services / Units

At the end of the experiential learning sessions on Continual Improvement Program, the participants must be able to:

  1. Explain why the hospital and all its services / units should conduct a continual improvement program / project at planned interval.
  2. Coordinate and collaborate with other personnel of their service / unit in conducting productive continual improvement program / project both in their respective services / units and hospital-wide.
  3. Coordinate and collaborate with personnel of other services / units in conducting productive continual improvement program / project both in their respective services / units and hospital-wide.

Enabling Learning Objectives (for all intended participants):

(Guided by the Terminal Learning Objectives)

At the end of the experiential learning sessions on Continual Improvement Program, participants must be able to:

  1. Read and understand the “what” and “why” of continual improvement program in general and in the setting of a heath care organization such as in a hospital.
  2. Read and understand the policies and procedures of the Continual Improvement Program of Manila Doctors Hospital.
  3. Read and understand the template of continual improvement process being used in the MDH.
  4. Conduct initially a small-scale continual improvement project in their services / units guided by the MDH template of continual improvement process.

Evaluation:

Based on Terminal Learning Objectives and Enabling Learning Objectives

Based on evidences of accomplishment and achievement of learning objectives.

Presence of an institutionalized continual improvement program in the hospital and in all the services and units

Presence of complete and productive continual improvement projects at planned interval hospital wide and in the services / units

Evidences of coordination and collaboration inside and outside the service / unit in conducting continual improvement projects

Certificate of Proficiency to those who achieve all the learning objectives with at least one productive continual improvement project.

Diploma – one of requirements is a larger scale of continual improvement project (action research) [to be further defined in the future]

Master – one of the requirements is a large scale of continual improvement project (action research) [to be further defined in the future]
