4. Please explain how significant were the results or outcomes? Are these measurable? Are there testimonials, awards or other support to show impact on improvement of the department or unit’s service? MAX 150 WORDS.
From February to May, 2012, OMSurg conducted 2 drills and 4 actual activations with one code white alert converted to code red. It also activated its code during the Asian Development Bank Meeting of Governors last May 2 to 5, 2012.
The results were derived from evaluation checklists containing 20-required-activity assessment. There was 100% accomplishment of all required activities in the 6 code activations. The overall response rate through cellphones on code acknowledgement and whereabouts was 91%. In the drill in which the code white was elevated to code red, 90% of all surgical residents who were out of the hospitals came to the hospital within 30 minutes.
The results showed that OMSurg has now an honest-to-goodness code alert system with all its staff trained and always ready to respond to surge of patients anytime the code is activated, not only for local but also for international events.
